Main Objectives

  • Provide a safe route for locals and visitors to explore the southern part of the Trent Vale.

  • Connect villages with the service centre and school of Collingham without using the busy A1133.

  • To be accessible to casual cyclists and walkers of all ages, including children in pushchairs and people with limited mobility.

  • Enable access on foot, wheelchair and by bike for people to visit the many attractions of the Vale without relying on car use. This includes Langford RSPB reserve, Besthorpe Wildlife Reserve, Girton water sports centre, Fledborough Viaduct, Japanese gardens etc.

  • Link with the existing Dukeries Trail (NCN 647) which crosses Fledborough Viaduct to bring the area within easy reach of Newark, Lincoln, Retford and Clumber Park.

  • Bring visitors into the area who spend money in cafes, pubs, shops and the various recreation activities.

  • Over time the area will become known for its green tourism.
