The "Friends of Trent Vale Trail" started as a community group in 2017 to  raise funds and pursue the creation of the Trent Vale Trail. In 2022 the FoTVT became a registered charity (Reg.No. 1200048)

With the support of many community and business partners, and crucially of Sustrans, the UK’s cycle and walking network organisation, making the Trent Vale Trail a reality has involved working closely with representatives of key national, regional authorities and organisations, local Parish councils and the late County Councillor Maureen Dobson.
